Settling into the Leeds United team has never been easy; just this season alone, it took some starters a while to make their mark. The Whites signed 10 players in the summer transfer window, but not all of them have panned out immediately.
Some immediately went into the first team like Lucas Perri, Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson. While others had to bide their time before getting a chance in the starting lineup. Jaka Bijol had to spend some weeks on the bench before being slowly integrated into the team – his start to life was criticized by fans. But since then he has gone on to become an important part of the lineup.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin also took some time before he settled; after his first goal against Wolves, he went on a long goal drought. Fans wanted him to be benched, but Daniel Farke kept faith and now the striker is one of the club’s best players.
Leeds United hero apologizes for how star signing panned out
Jayden Bogle has become one of the first names on the team sheet under Daniel Farke in the last few years. The fullback is one of the club’s best players regardless of him being a defender – he contributes so much to the build up and the attack. Leeds United hero Michael Bridges in a recent interview has apologized for underestimating Bogle in his early days at Elland Road.
“I’ve got to say he’s made me eat humble pie,” Bridges said to LUTV after the Aston Villa game.
“The first couple of matches I was thinking defensively, when I first saw him at the club I said ‘oh, what’s he about? What’s he here for?
“Then, since he’s settled in and found his home, defensively he’s been incredible, fitness levels through the roof, deliveries, and he’s gone above and beyond expectations.
“He’s shown that he’s a Premier League footballer and he’s been brilliant for this football club.”
Jayden Bogle has shown his quality this season
There was concern with Bogle as well as many other players in the team heading into this season. Some wondered if these players were good enough to cut it in the Premier League, since it is a much more demanding competition than the Championship. Jayden Bogle was high flying fullback in Daniel Farke’s attack last year, and he was able to get forward and get goals and assists.
This season, he has not been able to get so many chances in attack but he has played a huge role in the team. Sometimes he is the only one who can progress the ball down the flank, and he provides a lot of value going forward. He continues to be one of the best players in this Leeds United team.
