The major talking point at Leeds United after the transfer window closed was how the 49ers handled the final weeks. After a great start to the summer, the club slowed down on new additions towards the end.
The Whites spent the early weeks of the window recruiting defenders and midfielders. Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson were among the additions to the backline, while Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach headlined the midfield signings. Leeds wanted to focus on signing attackers late in the window, but plans changed as they missed out on some major targets. Igor Paixao, Facundo Buonanotte and Harry Wilson were some of the players that the club missed out on.
Daniel Farke had to do with Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who joined later in the window, and Lukas Nmecha who was the first signing of the summer.

The signing of Calvert-Lewin came with a lot of mixed opinions, many felt his fitness and injury record would be huge problems. Others also felt he would be a great addition to the squad with all his experience at the top flight level. Leeds fans have been thinking that the former Everton man agreed to huge wages to arrive at Elland Road, but according to transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, that is not quite the case.
Bailey has revealed that the rumours of Calvert-Lewin earning £100,000-a-week are ‘not accurate’:
“I don’t know what he’s on. I don’t imagine that’s [£100k-a-week] too far wide the mark.” he said to Leeds United News.
“England international who signed on a free transfer. Any player Leeds sign will have a relegation clauses.
“He’s on less than Junior Firpo was. Bear that in mind.”
Leeds United have invested a lot in Dominic Calvert-Lewin
It was reported that Leeds have invested in training facilities this season, as they plan for players like Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor who have had frequent injury issues in their career. The Whites failed to bring in a big money signing at the center forward position, and will instead rely on the former Everton man because of his experience.
Signing Calvert-Lewin is a huge gamble, but if he continues to score like he did against Wolves, it would be a winning decision.
