Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto has been ruled out of action with a lateral ankle ligament injury according to Daniel Farke.
The Italian only lasted 21 minutes against Hull City on Wednesday night before being taken off. The player tangled with Hull City defender Scott Twine, and afterwards felt some discomfort. The bench was signaled and he was assessed before being substituted. Gnonto has scored one goal so far this season, in Leeds’ 4-3 win away to Ipswich Town.
This is what Leeds boss Daniel Farke said on Gnonto:
“Sadly bad news with him. He’s done his lateral ankle ligament. We wait for the assessment this afternoon. He’ll definitely not be available tomorrow.”
According to The Athletic, Leeds United are awaiting a full assessment of the ankle injury before any steps are taken. Gnonto joins Djed Spence on the sidelines, the Spurs loanee was also diagnosed with a knee injury which could keep him out for up to eight weeks.
