Leeds United will be up against Derby County this weekend as the two sides clash in the FA Cup.
Daniel Farke’s side get a much needed break from the Premier League. Their six game unbeaten run ended midweek when they lost to Newcastle. The Whites had been on a successful run since they lost to Manchester City over a month ago.
Farke tweaked the team’s tactics and the players have now been playing exciting football. Some players have adapted really well to the new system and have been playing their best football this season.
Ahead of their FA Cup clash this weekend, the team is still in good spirits despite the loss to Newcastle this weekend. The team will be looking to bounce back when they face Derby.
Derby fans hopeful of Leeds United slipping up on Saturday
This weekend presents a bit of a different challenge for Leeds United. They play in the FA Cup away to Derby County. It’s not quite a rivalry but the home fans hold a deep hatred for the Whites.
Ahead of the game, some of their fans took to social media to say that their team needs to beat Leeds on Saturday.
“Will leeds bottle it again, hope so” one user said.
Another Derby fan posted on X: “Let’s just derby actually play gud and go for it”
“Lets hope the Derby players entertain the fans and give a good account of themselves.” Another user posted.
One fan wanted a ‘big victory’ at home: “Hopefully a big victory from Derby county football against Leeds United in the FA Cup”
Leeds have won three of the last four meetings between the two teams, but fans will never forget the crushing playoff second leg defeat in 2019.
Daniel Farke’s team selection will define the game
How the game will go depends on how Farke picks the team. Seeing how he has not used a lot of players thought out the campaign, it is likely that a lot of fringe players will get chances to play.
Some players have picked up knocks and some are out injured which means that others will have to step in on matchday. The early EFL cup exit to Sheffield Wednesday will definitely be playing on the minds of Leeds fans.
Farke decided to rotate a bit early on in the season, and it backfired as they lost to a lower tier side. Hopefully he does not underestimate Derby this time around.
