Despite the complaints from fans, Leeds United had a decent transfer window in the summer. The club spent £100million to revamp most of the areas in the team.
Many fans around the club were concerned with the lack of investment in attackers – just £18million was spent on Noah Okafor. Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds on free transfers. A large chunk on the budget was spent on the midfield and the defence. The Whites also signed a new goalkeeper in the summer window.
The results on the field have been positive so far, Leeds sit in 15th place in the Premier League with eight points. The Whites have showed in games that they are real threat to the top sides. This season, Farke’s men have taken points off Tottenham, Newcastle and Bournemouth.

Out of the 10 arrivals in the summer transfer window, only a few have featured regularly in the first team. But it is a matter of quality than quantity; Lucas Perri, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have been regulars. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor were also introduced into the lineup recently.
They have all had their specific contributions to the team, but BBC Sports‘ Adam Pope thinks one player has stood out so far:
“Arguably, Gabriel Gudmundsson, who is a definite upgrade at left-back, as he can defend and attack.
“However, I do not think you can underestimate the influence that Sean Longstaff’s experience of the Premier League brings – so after seven matches, I would say Longstaff.”
Sean Longstaff has played an important role this season
Longstaff has brought some serious dynamism in the middle of the park. Since getting into the lineup, he has provided an elite level of ball winning; he ranks among the best in the league for duels won and possession won.

When he plays, he allows the other players in the team to operate around him – freeing the likes of Anton Stach to be in advanced areas. Longstaff also has a great dead ball delivery on him; the midfielder has created 13 chances so far. Daniel Farke made the right call, bringing him into the lineup.
