Last night, Leeds eventually swept League 1 side Crewe Alexandra aside in the Carabao Cup as 3 goals in the final 11 minutes were enough for the win. Kalvin Phillips opened the scoring before a late brace from Jack Harrison rounded things off for the Whites.
But Crewe manager David Artell had plenty to say about Leeds United beforehand. Artell firstly spoke of the excitement he felt when finding out Leeds would be their opponents. “It’s a cracking draw for us.”
“It is one of the biggest one city clubs in the country…you can see how fanatical their supporters are.” He went on to emphasise just how important football is to the city of Leeds. “you don’t understand how big the club is until you are in and around it…I know how much it means to the people there.”
“Leeds are a massive football club and they are now back where they belong.” Artell knows all about Leeds, being from Rotherham and having friends from Leeds meant he spent a lot of time there, and saw first-hand how much this city loves its football.
