Tottenham have had a wild ride in the Premier League this season, from having title aspirations to now battling for survival. When Thomas Frank was hired, there was a lot of optimism around the club.

Even though Ange Postecoglou brought them European success winning the Europa League, they managed to finish in 17th place. The club thought hiring a new coach would bring a whole new set of results this season, but things did not go according to plan. Frank has been fired, with interim coach Igor Tudor in charge from now till the end of the season.

Spurs sit in 16th place, two points below Leeds United with 11 games to go. Something drastic will need to change for them to avoid relegation this season.

Paul Scholes thinks former Leeds boss should have gotten Tottenham job

Bringing in an interim boss at this part of the season has always been a gamble; turning things around takes time, and they have to adapt while on the job. Tudor’s first game with Tottenham ended in a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal. Paul Scholes thinks that the club made the wrong choice, and should have appointed someone like former Leeds boss Sam Allardyce.

“The choice of manager they brought in, I know it’s an interim, but he (Tudor) just doesn’t know the Premier League.” Scholes said on The Good, The Bad & The Football show.

“I was walking in there, Sam Allardyce is there, you’re thinking that’s just got him written all over it.

“First thing he probably does at a club when he goes into the team is stopping them from getting beat so easily, stopping us from conceding chances, he probably wouldn’t care about scoring goals because there’s enough quality in that Tottenham team to at some point get you a goal.”

Keeping Daniel Farke has been the right decision

When the club briefly entered the relegation zone near the end of last year, everything pointed to Daniel Farke facing the sack. But the 49ers did not pull the trigger and kept the German in charge past the New Year. And Farke has delivered so far; the club have strung together a run of very important results since then and now have some breathing room near the bottom of the table. Making such a decision at a pivotal point of the season can work, but when it goes bad the end result is not favourable. Leeds now have a strong chance of staying in the Premier League beyond this season.
