£12m Leeds United star surely risks regretting Elland Road move after worrying developments

Leeds United are in a fight to secure Premier League safety with seven games left in the season. However, certain players could consider their future at the club even if they stay up.

Daniel Farke seems to have settled on his best eleven ahead of the Premier League run-in and is unlikely to make any wholesale changes to his team in the final stretch of the campaign.

A more rotated team are expected to face West Ham at the London Stadium despite it being an FA Cup quarter-final, as surviving relegation is still the focus for Leeds.

As we approach the end of the season, there are rumours surrounding certain Leeds players, and Sean Longstaff is one of the stars who could be regretting moving to Elland Road last summer.

Sean Longstaff is no longer a starter at Leeds United

The former Newcastle midfielder joined Leeds last summer and quickly became undroppable following a string of solid performances in the midfield.

However, a hamstring injury sidelined him in December, and he only returned to the team in January. However, he has failed to recapture his place in the team.

Sean Longstaff has made just one start in the Premier League since his return from fitness, and has remained an unused substitute in the last four league games.

He scored in the 3-0 win over Norwich City in the previous round of the FA Cup, and is almost certain to start against West Ham on Sunday, if he is fit.

However, he didn’t join Leeds to only play in cup games, and the lack of Premier League minutes recently is a huge cause of concern for him.

Longstaff is an experienced midfielder and would have been expected at the heart of Leeds’ attempts to secure Premier League safety.

However, as things stand, he is not even getting on from the bench in the league games.

He could still have a role to play

Leeds will play a few big games in the run-in, which could end up deciding their fate in the Premier League survival race.

They will travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United and have games against Wolves, Burnley, Tottenham and West Ham in the run-in.

Leeds will need their squad to step up and may need to call upon the services of the experienced Longstaff when push comes to shove in the final weeks.

Daniel Farke is not one to tinker with his side, but it would be a major mistake to overlook the experience the former Newcastle star can offer.

Longstaff may still have a huge role to play if Leeds have to stay up in the Premier League this season.
