Leeds United faced Manchester City and Sunderland in the space of four days in the Premier League this week. Unfortunately for Daniel Farke’s men, they were not able to pick up a single point from both games.
The outcome of the matches was very strange considering how well Leeds played in both games. They could have scored twice against City in the first half of that game, and should have at least gotten a goal against Sunderland on Tuesday night.
In both games, the Whites conceded a goal against the run of play, and that was the end of the game. After conceding, the team found it really difficult to replicate how they played in the first half. Leeds found it very difficult to create openings and had to rely on crosses and set pieces to even make half chances.
Leeds United ace will be baffled after Daniel Farke’s decision for Sunderland game
One player in the team will be wondering why he was not involved in either match. Facundo Buonanotte failed to make the Leeds United squad for both the City and Sunderland games. Daniel Farke has yet to give a detailed explanation for the attacking midfielder’s absence. It looked like the Whites really needed a creative spark in both games, when late on they needed someone to break down the defences.
| Competition | Games Played | Minutes Played |
|---|---|---|
| Premier League | 2 | 29 |
| FA Cup | 1 | 45 |
| TOTAL | 27 | 2,005 |
Farke subbed on Joel Piroe late in the game on Wednesday night, playing him as a number 10 to try and find a route to goal. Buonanotte will be amazed at how he has not managed to make an impact on the team so far.

Facundo Buonanotte situation is very concerning
Facundo Buonanotte was the key signing in the January window; the club wanted him in the door, just like they wanted Jorgen Strand Larsen. So it has been very surprising to see him get very limited minutes since he arrived at Elland Road. Aside his first few cameos and the first half in the FA Cup game, he seems to have completely vanished from the first team. Daniel Farke admitted it may take time for him to adjust after not playing much, but the situation is rapidly growing to be a concern. If Leeds United cannot count on him at this part of the season, why was he signed in the first place?
