Leeds United blew a huge chance to move closer to safety after failing to get a result against Brentford at Elland Road. Daniel Farke’s side have failed to win in their last four league games.

Two points out of a possible 12 is a horrible return for a team trying to stay up in the league. Saturday night’s game was frustrating to watch for the home fans; Brentford sat back and absorbed pressure, while Leeds failed to break down their defence. Keith Andrews mentioned that his team had a game plan that worked; with the Whites resorting to hopeful crosses into the box.

The club now know that they have must win games left as they have just eight matches left to save their season.

Leeds United star dealt major blow after Brentford game

On Saturday, Leeds United needed a spark. Brentford did a great job nullifying any threat the home team had in the second half of the game. Leeds tried their best but could not break through the stubborn defence. So Daniel Farke had to call upon Noah Okafor and Dan James to come on the pitch. And for the 21 minutes that they were on the pitch, they failed to provide any major attacking threat.

Meanwhile Wilfried Gnonto was sat on the bench; the Italian has managed just six Premier League appearances since the start of January. For some reason, Farke does not trust him even with the winger proving he can be the spark to change some games. Saturday night showed that Gnonto’s time at Elland Road might be over.

Wilfried Gnonto could be gone in the summer

Farke decided to bring on Noah Okafor who had been injured for a month and had trained just over a week, and Dan James who has not produced a goal all season. In Gnonto’s head, he must be asking what he must do to get back into the first team. This season, the Italian has shown he can be the spark plug off the bench. Against Liverpool at Elland Road, he won a crucial penalty; and in the FA Cup ties this year, he has proven to be useful to the team. For some reason, Farke is not a big fan, and that could lead to the 22-year old leaving the club in search of playing time in the summer.
