Anton Stach was one of the best signings Leeds United made this summer. It was a shock that the club beat major clubs to his signing.

The midfielder made an immediate impact in the first team and slotted straight into the lineup. Stach became a key component of the team very early in the season, and has continued to deliver great performances.

His form in the league began to raise discussions about him getting into the German national team. But a few months ago, the German boss Julian Nagelsmann gave his reasons for not selecting Stach earlier this month.

“He’s doing well there, but he’s not exceptionally strong in the air and not a top ball-winner either.

“He’s also someone who prefers to have the game in front of him.

“In my view, his best position at Hoffenheim was the central role in a back three, from where he could drop into the No.6 position.”

Leeds United star earns national team call up

Ahead of the international break later this month, Nagelsmann has called up the Leeds United man. Anton Stach will be with the national team for their upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Switzerland.

Anton Stach – 2025/26 Season Stats ⚽
Leeds United | Games, Goals, Assists
Competition Games Played Goals Assists
Premier League 25 4 3
EFL Cup 1 0 0
FA Cup 2 0 0
Total 28 4 3

It is unfortunate that Stach will not be able to face his teammate Noah Okafor, who was left out of the Swiss squad for the international break due to injury.

Stach is now part of the potential list of Leeds United players who could feature at the World Cup this summer. Other players include Okafor, Ao Tanaka and Brenden Aaronson among others.

Huge boost for Anton Stach

Anton Stach has been a huge force in the middle of the park for Leeds United this season, and the German is a contender for the club’s player of the year. He has performed to the expectations he had prior to arriving in England. This move shows how good the 49ers’ recruitment was this summer, as the club signed a player of this quality.

A call up to the national team is a huge boost for any player, and hopefully it motivates Stach to end the season on a high. With eight games left in the league, Leeds United can clinch safety and another season in the top flight.
