Bruised but not broken: Cresswell shines once again for Millwall (loan report)

Charlie Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton – Millwall (Home to Hull City – 0-0)

Of the two Leeds players loaned out to Championship side Millwall, centre back Charlie Cresswell continues to shine as Jamie Shackleton struggles to make a convincing impact.

Shackleton was brought on as a midfield substitute four minutes before full time, presumably to bring some energy to the centre of the park, whereas even a high challenge from Hull’s Oscar Estupinan which resulted in his sending off wasn’t enough to prevent Cresswell from playing the full ninety.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett’s faith in Cresswell continues to be rewarded with another clean sheet as the game ended 0-0, as The Lions built on an already impressive defensive record.

Shackleton, conversely, is finding it hard to influence proceedings at The Den – something which he will be wanting to change before his loan ends next year.

Dan James – Fulham (Away at Manchester City – 2-1)

Winger Dan James was once again absent from Fulham boss Marco Silva’s starting XI as they travelled to Etihad Stadium on Saturday but was eventually brought on as a substitute, meaning that four out of his seven appearances so far this season for the Cottagers have come from the bench.

Replacing injured right winger Harry Wilson in the game’s 76^th minute, James was deployed as a fresh set of legs to trouble a City defence who had lost mainstay Joao Cancelo after his dismissal in the first half.

Even when down to 10 men the defending Premier League champions penned Fulham in and effectively forced them to play in a low-block, meaning James’ devastating pace went underutilised, severely limiting his overall impact.
