“Delusional” – Troy Deeney slams Jesse Marsch’s post-match comments

Troy Deeney says Jesse Marsch is “delusional”, after the Leeds United boss’ comments after their draw with Brentford.

Marsch seemed happy with a point against Brentford, saying that the result was positive:

“For me,” declared Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch, “It’s very very clear we are moving in the right direction. The players look me in the eye and they know it’s coming together.”

However former Premier League striker Troy Deeney believes otherwise. On his appearance on BBC Match of the Day 2, slammed Marsch’s comments:

“City, Arsenal, they’d love to get 18 shots every game so I think a team like Leeds whilst they are playing well and got a high energy, they are very frantic and I just think they need to create some better chances and be a bit calmer in and around the box,” Deeney said.

“The stats are there – 18 shots to win a game in the Premier League is very difficult.

“You can understand why he is positive, but it is a bit delusional at times – because it is putting this fake aura out there.”

Leeds have just 3 wins from their last 16 games ahead of their FA Cup tie against Boreham Wood or Accrington Stanley this weekend.
