Leeds United remain in 15th place and are six points above the relegation zone, but after Tuesday night, there have been warning signs.
The club has now suffered two defeats in a row to Manchester City and Sunderland. Both games went in a very similar fashion; Leeds dominated the first half, conceded against the run of play and struggled to find an equalizer. This cost them both games, and now there is a slight hint of worry about what could happen in the final weeks of the season.
Daniel Farke’s men have a very tough fixture list ahead of them, as they face teams in and around them at the bottom of the table.
Former Leeds United man gives honest assessment after Tuesday’s defeat
Former Leeds man Michael Brown has voiced his concern over the Whites after Tuesday’s game. According to him, the team do not have the quality to decide games in crucial moments.
“Leeds, they pushed, they gave everything. But they didn’t have the composure. They didn’t find the answer. Their quality let them down in big moments.” he said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It was a big moment. They will be asking about the penalty. It was one of those, some people will say it was, some people will say it wasn’t as Ethan Ampadu moved his arm away.
“Dark arts helped them win away. They found a formula. It’s a huge result for Sunderland. It’s a worry for Leeds United, but what an ending we’ve just seen.”

Leeds’ finishing has been a huge problem
Leeds have had issues in attack for a large part of the season; Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s run of goals helped hide it but now it is becoming worrying. In these last two games, the Whites have looked like they have no answer when the opponent puts men behind the ball. When City sat in their own half for the second half, Leeds barely broke through and most sequences of play looked like the players had no idea than to put crosses in.
It was the same against Sunderland on Tuesday night; even though they managed to create better chances, after the goal, there was nothing really threatening. Daniel Farke has to address this in the final games of the season. If Leeds cannot find that cutting edge to finish off games, then getting points on the board will only get more difficult.
Forest and West Ham are pulling out the stops now so what a really bad time for Leeds to start slipping. They need to start finding some form as they did when they turned around the season. It’s now do or die !
