Leeds United blew a big chance to get ahead in the relegation battle over the weekend. The Whites faced Crystal Palace on Selhurst Park on Sunday, knowing that a result could give them breathing space.

Daniel Farke’s men have seen their cushion above the relegation zone reduced after losing their last two league games. So there was a lot at stake in the away tie in London. Leeds started out well in the first half, with Palace unable to string together many attacks. Brenden Aaronson missed a huge chance in the first period, before the away side got the biggest chance in the game.

Leeds were handed a penalty just before half time, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepped up. Unfortunately, the striker missed and Farke’s men failed to capitalize on the opportunity.

A red card for Gabriel Gudmundsson just minutes later put the game in doubt for the visitors, but fortunately, they were able to hold on and grab a precious point on the road. There are now just three points separating four teams from 15th place to 18th place. With eight league games to go, anything can happen in the competition.

Premier League Bottom 6 – 2025/26 Standings 📊
Position Team Games Points
15 Leeds United 30 32
16 Tottenham 30 30
17 Nottingham Forest 30 29
18 West Ham 30 29
19 Burnley 30 20
20 Wolves 30 16

Peter Crouch has been speaking about the clubs at the bottom of the table, and their chances at survival. The former Liverpool man thinks Leeds United have a good chance of staying up due to their home form this season.

“If you count Wolves and Burnley, gone. You’ve got Forest, Spurs, West Ham. Leeds are just above them, but Forest, Spurs, West Ham – one of them has got to go,”

“I think Leeds will be alright, their home form is good as well”.

Whites are in a very tight spot

Leeds are now in a tight spot at the bottom of the table, after picking up just one point in their last three games. In that same time, Nottingham Forest and West Ham have gained important ground. Daniel Farke now has to find a way to pick this team up once again as they look to get a result in the next game against Brentford. Things are not easy at the bottom of the table, as the Whites’ rivals are getting huge results at a crucial point in the season. Fans will hope Leeds have another gear in them to secure another season in the top flight.
