“The Premier League is tough”, Owen told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Leeds had a good end to the year and beginning of 2026, picking up plenty of points to push up the table, but now the form has levelled out.
“I believe they can stay up.
“Their run-in isn’t as tough as others around them, and also, having winnable games at Elland Road, they can get back to scoring goals, as their defence is pretty good.”
Scoring goals has been a huge issue
Leeds United have now gone 419 minutes without a Premier League goal, a worrying drought at a time when every point matters in their survival fight.
There’s already been a clear warning: unless they rediscover their cutting edge soon, they risk being dragged into the bottom three as the season reaches its final stretch.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin hasn’t found the net in the league since early February, while Lukas Nmecha last scored in the 3–3 draw against Chelsea.
Calvert-Lewin vs Nmecha – Premier League 2025/26 Comparison
| Statistic | Calvert-Lewin | Nmecha |
|---|---|---|
| Games | 28 | 25 |
| Goals | 10 | 6 |
| Assists | 1 | 1 |
| Minutes Played | 2,121 | 874 |
Chances have been scarce, and players like Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okafor will need to step up and offer more creativity and service to the forwards during the run-in.
If things don’t improve quickly, Leeds could come under serious pressure after the international break.
A tough clash with Manchester United is next, followed by key fixtures against Tottenham, Burnley and Wolves, games that could define their season.
None of them will be straightforward, and Leeds will need their attacking players to start delivering if they’re to pick up enough points to stay in the Premier League.
