‘If they continue like that…’ – Football expert delivers honest Leeds United relegation verdict

The Premier League season is far from over, but there are concerns at Leeds United over the last few weeks. The Whites picking up just two points from their last four games has been poor.

Daniel Farke’s side have struggled to find a win, despite being the better side in large parts of these games. They should have gotten something out of the Sunderland and Manchester City games, but woeful finishing let them down. Dominic Calvert-Lewin also somehow managed to miss a penalty in the draw against Crystal Palace.

Leeds remain in 15th place, but just three points separates them from West Ham in the relegation zone. There are four teams with a chance of occupying that last slot in the relegation zone, and Farke’s side will have to fight to avoid it.

Football expert gives honest Leeds United assessment

Football presenter and broadcaster Marcus Speller has said that he thinks Leeds United picking up draws in the final few games could see them survive the Premier League this season.

“So are Leeds as well (in the relegation fight), though Leeds, they’re picking up draws, aren’t they.” Speller said on The Football Ramble show.

”That draw against Brentford at home and so on, the amount of games that Leeds have been drawing of late, that should be enough, I think, if they continue with that, get a point here and there, that should be enough.”

The Whites have more draws (12) than wins (7) in the league season, which has been a good thing in some games, but has also shown how much the team lacks a cutting edge to win games.

Whites cannot afford to slip up in the run-in

Draws are just enough for Leeds to keep themselves afloat in the relegation battle, but at some point the team has to start going for the win. Three points can do a whole lot when you are fighting for survival in the league. Leeds just have to learn how to finish off their chances in games where they have momentum. In their last five games, if the players were able to keep their calm infront of goal, the Whites would be far above their current relegation rivals. With eight games to go, there is everything to play for and fans will be backing Daniel Farke and his team.
