The 49ers will be glad with some of the Leeds United summer signings so close to the end of the season. Fans were disappointed after the transfer deadline because the club missed out on some players.
Club chiefs later explained that PSR was the reason why the Whites missed out on some good players. In attack, there was a stunning lack of quality, and more bodies were needed after what happened in pre-season. Daniel Farke got rid of Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt and Mateo Joseph; Manor Solomon was not signed on a permanent deal and Largie Ramazani was allowed to leave in the second week of the season.
Karl Darlow praises forgotten Leeds United ace
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have been great signings for the club; the duo joined Leeds United on free transfers in the summer. And they have delivered the goods so far this season, combining to score 16 goals in all competitions. Their success has seen Joel Piroe sidelined for the season; the striker was the star man in the Championship and he can barely get a game this campaign.
In an interview with the official Leeds United podcast, Darlow was asked about who the best finisher at the club was. Michael Bridges predicted that the goalkeeper would mention Joel Piroe, and Darlow actually did mention the striker: “Bang on, the way he strikes the ball and he’s a finisher, isn’t he, he’s a poacher in terms of, he gets a chance, he normally scores it, and for me, he’d be the best finisher at the club. Obviously, Anton Stach absolutely smashes the ball as well, so you get yourself ready when he’s gearing one up, you know what’s coming.”

Joel Piroe has not been himself this season
This is not the first time Piroe has been highlighted as the best finisher in the team; Farke even mentioned that this season. When asked why Piroe was not his preferred choice, he said that the striker’s finishing ability is great, but does not suit a team that does not possess the ball a lot. In the Championship, Leeds United had most of the possession, making Joel Piroe get many chances at goal. But now, the Whites are a more pragmatic team, and need Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha who are better at holding the ball and bringing others into play. Joel Piroe is at a pivotal point in his Leeds career; and with his contract up next season, he could leave the team this summer.
