‘Leeds have to be worried…’ – Sky Sports pundit delivers brutally honest Leeds United relegation verdict

Leeds United have eight games after the international break to decide their fate in the Premier League ahead of next season. The Whites were one of the teams expected to be relegated even before the campaign started.

But to their credit, they have been solid performers in the competition this season. Daniel Farke turned things around for his side late last year, and now they have the chance to secure their safety in the coming months.

Things are going to be difficult, as their relegation rivals will also be motivated to keep their place in the league. Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and West Ham all have massive incentives to stay afloat.

Sky Sports pundit gives Leeds United relegation verdict

The relegation battle is going to be really intense, there are just four points separating these teams near the bottom. Unless something drastic happens, Wolves and Burnley are guaranteed to go down. But the last spot is one every club will like to avoid. Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has said that he believes Leeds United have what it takes to survive this season.

“I think any team that is only four points above the relegation zone has to be worried.”

“But I really love the spirit they have shown since the end of November

“That second-half against Man City, when they changed formation, was a turning point, and they haven’t really looked back since.

“They have lost the odd game here and there, but overall, they have been extremely competitive.

“Playing with ten men for half a game in the Premier League, away at Crystal Palace, and not losing epitomised that. That is outstanding.”

Premier League survival is very possible

Daniel Farke’s men have a tough run of fixtures to end the season, which made it even more difficult after they picked up just two points in their last two games. Leeds could have distanced themselves from the bottom, but blew their opportunity to do so. Their last eight games include matches against Spurs and West Ham who are their direct relegation rivals. The Whites must navigate these games and hope they can steal points off their rivals. What will make their run more difficult is the number of away games – five trips on the road to tough opponents. Which means that every game at Elland Road should come with maximum points in order to help their cause.
