Leeds United fans will have some joy after the events of the past week. This past weekend saw the Whites progress to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup for the first time under Daniel Farke.
Leeds beat Farke’s old side Norwich City 3-0 to progress to the next round. The team was rotated, with guys like Ao Tanaka and Sean Longstaff coming into the lineup, just like in previous rounds. Goals from Joel Piroe, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Ao Tanaka were enough to dispatch the Canaries at Elland Road.
| Round | Opponent |
|---|---|
| 3rd Round | Derby County |
| 4th Round | Birmingham City |
| 5th Round | Norwich City |
| Quarter-Finals | Brentford/West Ham |
Some of the performances of the players caught the eye, with Gudmundsson in particular impressing Jermaine Beckford. Longstaff also showed why he deserves his spot back in the starting lineup with another stellar display and a goal.
Leeds United to face West Ham or Brentford in FA Cup quarterfinals
So far, the Whites have drawn only lower tier teams in the FA Cup: Derby County, Birmingham City and Derby County. But in football, it is important to beat who is in front of you, and Leeds have done exactly that to make the quarter finals. The Whites will face the winner of West Ham vs Brentford on Monday night. It will be a tough clash as both teams are not an easy matchup.
And what will make the tie even more difficult is the fact that the Whites will be away from home; Leeds do not have a good record on the road. Fans will be hoping that the team can pull off an upset when the winner of the game on Monday night is decided.

Can the Whites make the semi-finals?
Leeds are still not guaranteed safety in the Premier League, but an FA Cup run and a game at Wembley could be a nice touch this season. It would be poetic for a side that painfully lost the play off final three years ago to reach the same venue. But the Whites must not get far ahead of themselves, they still have to beat West Ham or Brentford to make the next round.
Fans will be glad to host more matches in the cup competition; the atmosphere and the feeling the competition brings is what football is all about. Of course Daniel Farke will have to prioritize the Premier League over the FA Cup, but the fans would like the team to have a real go when they face West Ham or Brentford in the quarterfinals.
