Leeds United sit 15th in the Premier League table, four points clear of the relegation zone. However, their form has dipped, which has led to concerns ahead of the final seven games of the season.

The Whites are on a winless run of six in the Premier League, which has forced some pundits to recalibrate their prediction that they will definitely survive in the top flight this term.

Goal-scoring has become a major issue, with the team enduring a drought of over a month, 419 minutes, without finding the net in the Premier League.

Leeds have opportunities to pick up the points needed to survive with games against Wolves, Burnley and Tottenham during the run-in, and the Premier League has handed them a huge advantage.

Premier League decision boosts Leeds United

The Premier League has announced the schedule for the first matchweek of May, and Leeds fans should be happy to see the outcome.

Burnley’s trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United has been picked up for television, and the game has been rescheduled from its original Saturday slot.

Leeds will now welcome Burnley to Elland Road on Friday, May 1, with an 8 pm kick-off under the lights, a prospect sure to delight the home supporters.

They have a good record at home under the lights, and with Burnley more or less expected to get relegated, it’s a game Leeds are expected to win.

The Elland Road faithful are expected to create a raucous atmosphere to help their team to a vital three points against the Clarets at home in May.

Leeds must beat Burnley at home under the lights to tighten their grip on Premier League safety ahead of the last three games of the season.

The Whites need a positive result soon

Defeats for West Ham United and Tottenham last Sunday meant Leeds ended the previous weekend exactly where they started: 16th, still four points clear of the drop.

But the table is so tight at the bottom that there’s barely any margin for error. Daniel Farke has already suggested they’ll probably need around seven more points to be safe.

With home games against Wolves and Burnley, along with a trip to Spurs still to come, those fixtures could end up deciding everything.

Premier League Bottom Six Standings (2025/26 Season)
Position Club Played Wins Draws Losses Goals For Goals Against Goal Difference Points
15 Leeds United 31 7 12 12 37 48 -11 33
16 Nottingham Forest 31 8 8 15 31 43 -12 32
17 Tottenham Hotspur 31 7 9 15 40 50 -10 30
18 West Ham United 31 7 8 16 36 57 -21 29
19 Burnley 31 4 8 19 33 61 -28 20
20 Wolverhampton Wanderers 31 3 8 20 24 54 -30 17

They can’t keep relying on others slipping up; sooner or later, they’ll have to take matters into their own hands.

A win over Burnley at home on a Friday night will go a long way towards ensuring Leeds stay up in the Premier League.
