Leeds United handed survival boost after West Ham confirm major injury blow

Daniel Farke evidently does not trust a particular Leeds player anymore.

Leeds United have made it to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in more than 20 years, but Premier League survival will remain their main priority this season.

Daniel Farke has already insisted that winning the FA Cup is an unrealistic expectation for Leeds this season, indicating that securing their top-flight status remains their main focus.

Leeds are just three points clear of the relegation zone, and West Ham’s recent form suggests that the Whites need to pick up more points soon to ensure they do not get dragged into the bottom three in the coming weeks.

However, the Hammers have suffered a major blow on Monday night when they beat Brentford on penalties to secure passage to the last eight of the FA Cup.

West Ham boss confirms major injury to hand Leeds a boost

West Ham will host Leeds in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the London Stadium next month. However, both clubs are focused on Premier League survival.

Hammers’ progress in the FA Cup has come at a cost as manager Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed a fresh injury for Crysencio Summerville.

He conceded that while he is not sure how bad the injury is, there is a concern around the winger’s fitness as West Ham look to get out of the bottom three.

Nuno was quoted as saying by the BBC: “Let’s assess him. He felt a knock. I don’t know exactly what he has. It is concerning, but hopefully we recover with this moment of joy.

“We’ll get better, we’ll be faster, and we will be able to compete against City.

“Enjoy for a couple of hours and then refocus, recover well and respect your body. It was a big effort from a lot of the players. Then we have to go again.”

This will be a big blow for the Hammers

Leeds and West Ham now have a big chance of playing at Wembley in the semi-finals of the FA Cup this season. However, their focus is on Premier League survival.

The Whites have lost their last two league games, and West Ham’s recent form has given them hope of getting out of the bottom three by the end of the season.

However, Summerville’s injury is a major blow for West Ham, as his performances have been crucial to their resurgence over the last few weeks.

He has scored five league goals since the turn of the year, and West Ham need him to be fit if they have to finish outside the bottom three this season.
