Leeds United will have a lot of business to conduct in the summer, but first the club need to make sure they end this season on a high. The Whites are currently in the relegation battle with nine games remaining.

At the start of the year, Leeds looked comfortable after picking up some very important points over the festive period. But since then, things have not been straightforward. Over the last few weeks, teams around the bottom have slowly eaten away at the Whites’ safety cushion and this has been made worse by the team losing their last two games. Daniel Farke will have a lot to do to turn things around in these final months.

The club had a very busy summer a few months ago, where several decisions were made in the squad building. Players left, and players came in the door, while others were left out of this season’s plans.

Leeds United learn crucial detail about summer transfer target

This summer will be a pivotal one for the club; they have a lot to do about the current players in the setup. Decisions will have to be made on who is sold, and which players will remain at Elland Road. And per reports, targets are being lined up ahead of next season.

Leeds have been tracking Anderlecht youngster Nathan de Cat, who is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe. At just 17 years old, he has been making a lot of waves in Belgium, and has caught the eye of the 49ers. But according to journalist Filip Joos via Voetballkrant, the Whites are not a club that the midfielder will consider joining this summer: “It won’t be Leeds United or Everton.”

The recruitment team must now set their sights elsewhere if they want to add a quality midfielder in the middle of the park in the coming months.

This season will decide summer targets

Everyone around Leeds United knows that where the club will finish will decide what business is done in the future. Being relegated means targets from top European clubs are ruled out because they would prefer higher level football. So remaining in the Premier League will be key; the Whites were only able to sign the likes of Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson due to their status. Hopefully the club can secure their top flight status in the next few games.
