Leeds United will once again have to dip into the transfer market this summer. Despite not knowing how the season is going to end, the team has a lot on their plate when it comes to transfers.
A lot of players were allowed to leave Elland Road before the season began, but unfortunately, most were temporary deals. Which means a whole host of unwanted players will be back at the club in the coming months. This, added with the fact that the 49ers still need to improve the team no matter which division they find themselves in come August, is a big task.
The club will also have to deal with PSR, as funding their transfers ahead of this campaign was not an easy task. Leeds United could be forced to sell to recoup some funds in the coming months.
Leeds United need to sell £50 million duo this summer
Regardless of external factors, Leeds might end up needing extra funding when it comes to matters on the pitch. Daniel Farke has used a small core of players this season despite having enough depth. And now fans have had a good assessment of the current players. In the summer, a sure fire way to earn some transfer funds is to sell. The Whites have been poor at selling players since last year, and it is part of the reason they struggle with PSR.

Two players in this Leeds United team are prime candidates that need to be moved on. The first is Dan James; the hero in last season’s promotion campaign. James stepped up and delivered 21 goal contributions as the club clinched the league. But this season, he has been far from servicable; injuries and fitness problems have plagued his campaign. And what makes things more complicated is that Leeds have managed to play well without him. So come this summer, the club needs to move on from a player who is slowly becoming injury prone. That was how the Whites waited till it was too late with Patrick Bamford.
The Brenden Aaronson journey needs to end
The second name may come as a surprise to Leeds United fans, but Brenden Aaronson is still not up to par at this level. He is a player that has had just one standout season for the club, and his £25 million price tag can still not be justified. On paper, he has the traits of a good player – intelligent at finding spaces and can carry the ball. But on the pitch, he is not decisive and lacks end product in front of goal. Aaronson has seven goal contributions in the Premier League, but that cannot excuse how poor he has been outside that purple patch. Him not being to nail down a position has also been a problem, and this should not continue – the 49ers must find a way to cash in on him this summer.
