Leeds United entered the international break on the wrong note after failing to win their last league game. The Whites could only managed a 0-0 draw at home to Brentford.

That result was a positive one, but the club now have just two points in their last four games and relegation is looming. Leeds are now just four points above the relegation zone with eight games to go. The team will return to Premier League action in over a week, but this weekend they will face West Ham in the FA Cup for a place in the semi-finals. Their run of fixtures from now till the end of the season will be difficult, as they face a number of teams in and around them in the relegation zone.

Craig Bellamy gives injury update on Leeds United star

Leeds United would have had an eye on the international break, given how many of the club’s players were on duty. Gabriel Gudmundsson, Joel Piroe and Ao Tanaka among others all featured in the last week. However, Wales quartet Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Dan James were dealt a huge blow in their World Cup play-off exit.

James scored the only goal for Craig Bellamy’s side in the game against Bosnia, but did not last the full 120 minutes. Ahead of Wales’ clash against Northern Ireland this week, Bellamy has revealed that the Leeds United man is being assessed for an injury.

“Dan James we have to check on because he’s had one game in four months leading into this – and he was ill leading into the camp.

“The output, he’d done more than what we thought he was going to be able to do.

“I’d have loved to have kept him on for 120 minutes [against Bosnia] with the way he was playing, all day long, but physically it wasn’t possible. He was cramping up and he needed to come off. So we’re really checking on him at the present moment.”

Daniel Farke will be stressing

Dan James was one of Leeds United’s best players in the Championship last season. His 21 goal involvements were enough to propel the team to the Championship during the run-in. Since he picked up that hamstring injury near the end of last season, he has not been the same. He started this campaign and was ruled out with a similar issue during an international break, and has yet to gain consistency since. Daniel Farke would have loved him to be available for the final eight games of the season, but now, his availability is in doubt.
