Leeds United have had a rough couple of weeks, but last weekend Daniel Farke managed to steady the ship. The Whites had lost their last two league games before meeting Crystal Palace.

Losing twice was a huge step back after gaining points toward safety earlier in the year. The club are now just three points above the relegation zone after Nottingham Forest and West Ham got some huge results. Last weekend, Farke’s side started off the game strongly away to Palace; they managed t control the game for most of the first half and had the best chances.

The Whites were handed a huge opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty just before half time. Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepped up but put his effort wide.

Leeds United boss comments on refereeing decision

Minutes after the penalty, Leeds United were reduced to 10 men after Gabriel Gudmundsson was given a second yellow after a foul on Ismaila Sarr. It was seen as an unfair decision by the Leeds bench, especially as minutes later, Brennan Johnson escaped a booking for a similar foul when he was on a yellow card. Crystal Palace launched waves of attack when Farke’s men were down to 10 but failed to score. The Whites left Selhurst Park with a crucial point.

This week, Daniel Farke revealed that he has not received an apology from the league or PGMOL after Gudmundsson’s sending off.

”Personally not, also not checked because it doesn’t make a difference. Everyone who watched Palace has the same view but it doesn’t mean anything right now. He’s (Gudmundsson) out and we have to cope with the situation.” Farke said in Thursday’s press conference.

Whites will be without a key player on Saturday

Leeds missing Gabriel Gudmundsson against Brentford will be a huge blow, and Daniel Farke has every right to be furious. During the Palace game, the home side seemed to be on the end of favourable decisions, with their players escaping yellow cards after clear fouls. The refereeing was poor all round, and on another day, the Whites could have lost the game. Now, they have to manage to beat Brentford at Elland Road.

Farke will have a difficult decision to make ahead of the game, as there is no natural left-footed left back in the team outside Gudmundsson. Fans will be hoping the club’s home form will be good enough to secure a result on Saturday.
