Many Leeds United fans were disappointed that their side failed to get a win at Elland Road this past weekend. The club were hoping to bounce back from poor results in the last few weeks.
One point in three games before they faced Brentford just raised the anxiety before the match. Daniel Farke’s men were unlucky to have drawn to Crystal Palace, as they missed a penalty in the first half at Selhurst Park. When Keith Andrews’ side arrived at Elland Road, they had a game plan that worked to perfection. Leeds tried their best but could not find a way through in the 90 minutes.
Jermaine Beckford assesses Leeds United man’s performance vs Brentford
The visitors sat back, and gave the home side most of the ball, but the Whites could not find a way through. Farke’s men were limited to crossing into the box because they could not create anything meaningful. Leeds United tried to change the game in the second half by bringing on Noah Okafor and Dan James, but it was a bit too late as Brentford had settled and repelled any attempts in the dying minutes.
Jermaine Beckford was speaking to LUTV after the game, saying how James was the major bright spark in the second half: “I really, really enjoyed DJ when he came on today because every time he picked the ball up, he was being so direct”
“He was picking the ball up and driving towards the defender and making a defender make a decision.”
The former Leeds striker praised the winger for trying to affect the game, but noted that his match sharpness was always going to be an issue.
“His decision-making on the final pass or the final cross or the final shot was not quite there yet, but that is to be expected because he is coming off the bench.”

Dan James is just a part of huge Leeds attacking problem
Dan James has just played a total of 504 minutes in all competitions this season, with 422 of them coming in the Premier League. The winger has been troubled by injuries and fitness problem since the start of the campaign, and has only managed four league starts. Seeing how important he was in the promotion campaign last season, it has been a bit of a surprise how little has has been available this year. Leeds United have a serious problem up front; they have not been able to put the ball in the back of the net and this has cost them in crucial games. Daniel Farke needs to address this before the final eight games of the season.
