Last summer, Daniel Farke made some huge changes to the squad before the club made their return to the Premier League. Some of the decisions rubbed fans the wrong way, while others were agreed upon as the right choice.
Patrick Bamford agreed to terminate his deal after he was told he was no longer part of the club’s plans. He has since gone on to join Sheffield United in the Championship. Leeds also saw Joe Gelhardt, Mateo Joseph and Largie Ramazani all depart on loan deals, which Farke gave the green light for. The German also decided to bring Jack Harrison back into the team, which did not end up well as the winger forced a move to Fiorentina in January.
One exit that went under the radar was Max Wober, who joined Werder Bremen on loan. The Austrian had revealed that the club asked him to leave before last season ended.
Leeds United star gives update on injury
Wober was reportedly not on good terms with Farke, hence his decision to seek playing time elsewhere. However, moving to Germany has not been a smooth ride for the defender. Injuries have seen him miss out on almost the whole season till date – he was last seen playing 45 minutes in a friendly in January. Wober got injured after that game and has been out for two months.
The Leeds United loanee has been speaking about how close he is to returning to first team action:
“I’m not far from being fit, but I still can’t get back to running and playing football completely pain-free. I hope this appointment will help me and that I can be back on the pitch in two weeks.” Wober said 1x1Sport Fußballtrainer podcast.
“Hopefully, after the international break, I’ll at least have five or six games where I can give my all for the club.”

Transfer deal has gone awfully wrong
Another example of a loan exit that has not worked according to plan at all. Leeds United seem to be having bad luck with the players who left on temporary deals in the summer. As it stands, Werder Bremen do not look like they will try to sign the Austrian in the summer. There was a purchase clause in the loan deal, but it was not an obligation. Max Wober will most likely return to Elland Road this summer, with 12 months remaining on his contract. Leeds will be lucky to get a good deal for him, considering he has not played active football in close to a year.
