Leeds United sit 15th in the Premier League, but they’re only four points above the relegation zone and right in the middle of a scrap with three other sides to stay up.
West Ham’s loss to Aston Villa on Sunday kept them stuck in the bottom three, while Nottingham Forest’s emphatic 3–0 win at Tottenham dragged Spurs right into trouble.
The north London side are now just one point and one place above the drop zone, and could find themselves in it by the time they return from the international break.
Tottenham’s form has completely collapsed; they haven’t won a game this year and are now on a 13-match winless run in the league. There’s also growing uncertainty over whether interim boss Igor Tudor will still be in charge after the break.
Danny Murphy wants a former Leeds United boss to take charge of Spurs
Sam Allardyce took charge of Leeds on an interim basis towards the end of the 2022/23 season following a turbulent period. However, he failed to prevent them from getting relegated.
He is still seen as a relegation specialist, someone who could come in and rescue a club from a horrible situation.
Danny Murphy believes the current scenario at Spurs suggests that they need an Allardyce-led rescue act to survive in the Premier League this season.
However, the former Leeds boss has been out of the game for a while, and Murphy conceded that it probably is an unrealistic suggestion.
“Right now, the one that screams out to me, Sam Allardyce, is the one who knows how to get results”, Murphy said on talkSPORT.
“But he’s been out of the game a while, so it’s probably unrealistic.”
Former Leeds coach Gus Poyet has also offered to replace Tudor at Tottenham to perform a rescue act.
The Whites can’t continue to depend on Spurs being poor
Defeats for West Ham and Tottenham on Sunday meant Leeds finished the weekend exactly where they began, 16th in the table, still four points clear of the drop.
But with the bottom so congested, there’s no room for slip-ups. Daniel Farke has already hinted they may need around seven more points to secure safety.
Premier League Bottom Six – Relegation Battle

| 16 | Nottingham Forest | 31 | 8 | 8 | 15 | 31 | 43 | -12 | 32 |
| 17 | Tottenham Hotspur | 31 | 7 | 9 | 15 | 40 | 50 | -10 | 30 |

| 20 | Wolverhampton Wanderers | 31 | 3 | 8 | 20 | 24 | 54 | -30 | 17 |
With home fixtures against Wolves and Burnley, plus a trip to Tottenham still to come, those games are likely to be decisive in their survival bid.
They can’t keep depending on other teams to do them favours; at some point, they’ll have to take control of their own fate.
