‘Those games are…’ – Simon Jordan delivers honest assessment of Leeds United’s run-in amidst Premier League relegation battle

Things have changed in a matter of days at Leeds United. After a few weeks of good results, the Whites looked like one of the favourite teams to beat the drop at the end of the season.

But after consecutive defeats, things are looking grim. The loss to Manchester City was very disappointing, as they could have done more to get something out of that game. Players let Daniel Farke down in front of goal, and they were punished for it.

Sunderland felt like an opponent the team could bounce back and get a result against, but things went wrong. Once again it was the same case of Leeds dominating most of the game and getting punished by a goal against the run of play. The Whites still have a six-point cushion above the relegation zone, but most of their rivals have a game in hand this week. It will be interesting to see how things play out in the final stretch of games.

Simon Jordan assesses Leeds United run in

With nine games to go, Leeds United look like they have a tough task on their hands, especially as they have to face teams in and around them in the next couple of weeks. Simon Jordan has looked at the run in, and assessed which games he thinks could favour Daniel Farke’s men.

“Leeds have got Palace, Brentford, (Manchester) United, okay, (Manchester) United are in great form then they’ve got Wolves, then they’ve got Bournemouth, and then they’ve got Burnley at home.” he said on talkSPORT.

”So they’ve got Wolves and Burnley at home, those are games worth six points given the nature of the opposition they’re playing against, those are great games. You’d expect Leeds to get something out of those games, and if you look at the run in, it’s a great way to finish the season and get some points.”

Premier League safety is very achievable

The fixtures look daunting, and the opponents are not going to be easy to get past. One thing Leeds still have in their control is games at Elland Road – they have four of them left, with very winnable ties against Wolves and Burnley. If they manage to get six points from those two games, it could be enough for them to hold on at the end of the season. However, the Premier League is unpredictable, and it will take a lot of effort for the club to stay afloat in this campaign.
