“We must get better” – Brenden Aaronson after Man City game

Published on

Leeds midfielder Brenden Aaronson admits the team were just not good enough against City on Wednesday night.

The Whites lost 3-1 to Manchester City in the Premier League last night. A goal from Rodri and brace from Erling Haaland were enough to see the visitors through. A consolation goal from Pascal Struijk was not enough at the end.

Aaronson revealed that the team was frustrated at conceding a goal just before the first half, and addresses areas that need improvement:

“It’s tough because I think for us to take that goal at the end of the half is always going to be a gut punch and I think we defended well and they’re, for me, the best team in the world so it’s tough on the day.

“We have some things we need to look at [defensively] but we do need to get better in some instances. There were a lot of ‘What if’s’ [going forward] but it shows we’re getting ourselves into those positions.

“Listen, they’re the best team in the world so we didn’t get a lot of chances in the first half but I think there’s a lot to work on. I think in transition, we can be a lot better at holding the ball and being more comfortable in moments like that.

“There are points where we have more time than we think, so it’s about working on these things in training and we’ll get better.”

Leeds sit in 15th place in the Premier League, just 2 points off the relegation places.
