West Brom head coach pens contract extension amid Leeds interest

West Bromwich Albion have announced a contract extension for head coach Carlos Corberan amids Leeds rumours.

The Baggies announced on Tuesday night that the Spaniard has been tied down until 2027. The 39-year old has been on a fantastic run with the club, winning 10 games since October 2022.

Leeds are reportedly interested in Corberan after sacking Jesse Marsch after their defeat to Nottingham Forest. However, with this contract extension, West Brom will not let him go easily.

After signing the extension, Corberan says he is focused on the rest of the season:

“I have enjoyed my time at Albion, and I am pleased to have secured a contract extension. I would like to thank my staff, the players, and our fantastic supporters for their help in making my time here so positive.

“I would also like to thank Ron Gourlay for continuing to show faith in me as a coach. I believe that success can only be achieved when everyone works together and the way I have been made to feel welcome at this great club has made me confident that this is the right place for me.”

Corberan served as Leeds U23 coach and first team coach from 2017 to 2020 before leaving the club.
