“Whoever wins this…” – Paul Merson makes bold claim ahead of West Ham vs Leeds United FA Cup clash

Leeds United went into the international break on the back of a disappointing result as they were held by Brentford. It was a huge chance to gain an advantage on their relegation rivals ahead of the final run of games.

The Whites have eight league games left to save their season, and they are just four points above the relegation zone. They had their six point cushion slashed after picking up just two points in their last four games. Crushing home defeats to Manchester City and Sunderland deflated the atmosphere at Elland Road. Leeds managed to avoid defeat in their last two matches, but at this point of the season, they could have done much better.

Paul Merson makes bold claim ahead of Leeds United clash

Leeds United are in action this weekend, but not in the Premier League. They first have to face West Ham in a very difficult FA Cup quarterfinal clash. Both teams are in the relegation battle, but have the rare chance of booking a place in the semi-final on Sunday. Paul Merson gave his thoughts on the clash between both sides this weekend.

”This is a difficult game to predict. I don’t see a lot between these two sides at the moment. Whoever wins this game, will get momentum for the run-in until the end of the Premier League season.” he wrote in his Sportskeeda column.

”West Ham have a huge cup final coming up against Wolves next Friday. They need to win that game to give them the best chance of staying up. Leeds, who have a four-point lead over West Ham in the table, host Manchester United in the next gameweek.”

Only four points separate the two sides in the league, but in the FA Cup, the game is up for grabs.

Daniel Farke can give Leeds fans something to smile about

Leeds United have got a huge chance this weekend, especially with the Hammers set to be without some of their key players. Dominic Calvert-Lewin had to stop training in midweek and is a huge doubt. However, the players who have featured in the last three rounds can get a result. Players like Wilfried Gnonto, Ao Tanaka and Sean Longstaff all have something to prove at this point of the season. Farke can get Leeds to their first FA Cup semi-final in decades, and that will please the Elland Road faithful.
