Leeds United are lining up plans ahead of the summer transfer window. In the January window, the 49ers tried to invest in the team, but were limited by PSR.

The 49ers brought in Facundo Buonanotte, with Leeds needing to replace Jack Harrison who left on loan. Leeds also tried to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen, but Wolves wanted the fee upfront, which the Whites could not agree to.

With months to go until the end of the season, it is clear that Leeds United have some areas to address. Reports have emerged that the club are in the market for a new striker to provide competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. And with three goalkeepers out of contract soon, the club could pursue a new number one.

Media Foot are reporting that Arsenal and Leeds United have shown strong interest in Rennes midfielder Djaoui Cisse. Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen have also reportedly made inquiries. The report also adds that the Whites have made their interest known to the midfielder’s agent. But with Arsenal entering the race, it will be difficult for the other clubs to convince Cisse over a move.

The Gunners are set to win the Premier League this season, and could also lift the Champions League. This would make them a more interesting place to land than clubs like Leverkusen, Leeds and Frankfurt.

Djaoui Cisse’s midfield profile could be key for Leeds

Leeds United have a very decent core of midfielders this season. Ao Tanaka could be the most technically gifted of all the options available, but Daniel Farke has not used him much this season. Ethan Ampadu is the more defensive option in the team, while Anton Stach, Ilia Gruev and Anton Stach are the more dynamic box-to-box options.

Djaoui Cisse brings something different, and can be used like Ampadu and Tanaka – he wins the ball alot, and can dribble and carry it through the middle of the park. He is impressive in duels, and is one of the most progressive ball carriers in France. Despite where Leeds end up next season, they need a lot of quality throughout the team. The 49ers’ investment last summer is big reason why the team have enough quality to not be in the bottom three at this point of the season. So more quality will go a long way next season.
