Dominic Calvert-Lewin was at his imperious best as Leeds United beat Newcastle United 4-1 at Elland Road tonight. But one refereeing decision left him ‘raging’.
Ao Tanaka opened the scoring with a deflected goal in the first half, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin thought he scored a brace before half-time to make it 3-0.
His first header was ultimately credited to Jayden Bogle, but there was no taking the second away from him. He left the Leeds defenders scrambling with a superb run before calmly slotting the ball into the net.
Noah Okafor scored a fourth before the hour mark, before Newcastle scored a consolation goal in injury time to take away some of the gloss from the scoreline for Leeds.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin fuming with referee
Jayden Bogle has conceded that he had little idea about how the first goal was attributed to him, as he knew nothing about it, but he is happy to take it.
However, the Leeds defender admitted that Calvert-Lewin was fuming with the referee’s decision to award the goal to Bogle, as he did all the hard work.
Bogle said on Sky Sports: “Thank you, I’ll take it, but I didn’t know anything about it.
“I said to the ref, I don’t fancy telling him [Calvert-Lewin], especially at half-time.
“He was still the same after the game; he was raging that it wasn’t his goal, but he’s happy with the points.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks fired up
The former Everton man knows that Leeds have gambled on him to emulate or even do better than last season by not signing another striker.
He has started the season well and showed tonight that at his best he can bully any Premier League defence as long as the service is right.
Leeds need him to remain fit and firing as the next striker behind him is Lukas Nmecha, who has scored seven goals since joining Leeds last year.
