English club hold talks ahead of potential Leeds United transfer
News emerged this week about a potential exit from Elland Road.
Joe Gelhardt is the subject of serious interest from Birmingham City, Hull City and a ‘number of clubs’. At the end of last season, everyone expected Hull to seal the deal, but the interest died.
This week, the link has been revived as Hull City President Acun Ilıcalı and head coach Sergej Jakirovic hinted at the possibility of a deal.
According to Football Insider, Birmingham City are holding internal talks to explore a move for Joe Gelhardt. It is believed that the Championship side want a loan deal with the option of making it a permanent transfer next summer.
BBC Humberside Sports Editor Mike Smith revealed that clubs have been in contact with Gelhardt.
Nothing has been confirmed with respect to club-to-club talks, but Birmingham are said to be discussing their options.

Birmingham City’s plans have a flaw
The report claims that Birmingham would take a loan with a view to a permanent move next summer.
But Joe Gelhardt is out of contract at Elland Road in 2027. Which means that Leeds would lose him for free if he does not agree to a new deal or extension in the coming months.
And looking at how desperate the forward is to leave, it is highly unlikely he agrees to another loan.
Letting him go for free next year is also bad business for the 49ers, who have the perfect chance to cash in on Gelhardt while his value is sky high. He is coming off the back of a 15 goal season for newly-promoted Hull City.
This alone will fetch him a very decent fee if there is concrete interest as reported.
