Elland Road has always been a fortress for Leeds United. Their home ground is important to their identity, culture, and most importantly results on the pitch.

The Whites have relied on their home form for success in their best seasons.

Even in recent years, the role the home ground has played in their triumphs cannot be understated. I their promotion campaign, Daniel Farke’s side won more than half of their points total in front of their home crowd.

And even in the Premier League, Elland Road is a place that rival clubs are afraid to visit.

Leeds hold a impressive record at home since their promotion. Since the start of last year, Farke’s men have beaten Chelsea and held Liverpool and Manchester United at home.

Club chairman Paraag Marathe praised the fans for creating the perfect atmosphere for the team to get incredible results at home.

Hit song ‘I Predict A Riot’ has become an anthem at Elland Road in recent years.

The song was written by Nick Hodgson, formerly of the Kaiser Chiefs. It gets the crowd at the stadium jumping ever time it is played. Matchday a Leigh Nicholson explained how the song became a staple among Leeds fans.

It came about when the Whites completed a huge comeback to beat Leicester City in February 2024.

Nicholson told the story about the song being played at Elland Road after the win on the We Welcome Your Teams podcast.

The story involved the police and former Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear. Police wared Nicholson not to play ‘I Predict A Riot’, and Kinnear came out of the directors box, told him to play it and that he would deal with the Police.

”Leicester came to town in the Championship, and if you ask anybody about the best ‘I Predict A Riot’ at Elland Road, it is that one.”

”The reason why that one was a significant one was that we were losing. It took us till the 80th minute to equalize. Three minutes later, Archie Gray scores and Patrick Bamford scores to make it 3-1.”

”While all this was going on, I get messages on the Leeds Whatsapp group that the police have said ‘do not play ‘I Predict A Riot’ at full time.”

”Because the atmosphere inside the stadium and that of the Leicester fans was going off.”

”I dropped a message to someone else and said ‘Is it right that I can’t play ‘Riot’ at full time?”

”Next thing I know, Angus Kinnear got out of the directors box, he walked down to where I stand. He came down and said: ‘You play ‘Riot’ at full time, I will deal with the police”’.
