Leeds United spent big in the summer transfer window while preparing for their Premier League return. The Whites knew they had to add some serious quality to the team that made it up from the Championship.
Unlike other newly promoted teams, the club’s recruitment focused on getting top players from leagues across Europe. Leeds brought in the likes of Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff and Dominic Calvert-Lewin among other signings. Players who had experience and could adapt to the quality at Premier League level easily.
And even though it took a while for the team to gel, they are now in one of their best runs since the season began. Leeds have lost just two games in the league since the start of December. With 12 games between now and the end of the season, Farke and the players need to keep up their performances if they want to clinch survival.
Anton Stach World Cup claim made by German media
Another incentive for some Leeds United players as the end of the season draws closer is the World Cup. The Whites have a number of players who are regulars in the national team or are on the fringes. Ao Tanaka, Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon, Dan James and Gabriel Gudmundsson are great examples. The Japanese midfielder, and the Welsh trio are regulars in their national team set up
Some players have stood out for the club this season like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach, with both raising the conversation about making the World Cup. Calvert-Lewin has thrown his hat into the England ring with his 10 Premier League goals, while Stach is knocking on the door of the German national team.
A recent publication from local media Kicker, has raised the topic of Anton Stach making the squad for the World Cup. The midfielder has three goals and three assists this season in the Premier League, which could prompt Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann to take a closer look.

Midfielder has been a revelation this season
When Daniel Farke asked for some quality in the middle of the park, the recruitment team delivered. Anton Stach brings a lot of ability in the middle of the park; he is a great outlet in attack and can hold his own defensively. For a player known as a pure defensive midfielder, Daniel Farke has used him as a box-to-box player and he has excelled. If he can finish the season on a high note, then the calls for him to make the World Cup squad for Germany will grow even louder.
