Daniel Farke and Leeds United will be more than happy to leave Selhurst Park with a point in their bag after the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.
However, Leeds had a goalden opportunity to take the lead in the first half when they earned a penalty inside the Palace box. However, Calvert-Lewin shot wide to scupper a chance to score his 11th Premier League goal of the season.
It got worse for Leeds when Gabrie Gudmundsson was sent off just before the break after receiving a second yellow card, and Leeds somehow kept it at 0-0 in the second half to earn a point.
However, the penalty miss will continue to haunt Calvert-Lewin, who is Leeds’ top goalscorer this season and has more or less been the talisman in front of goal.

Chris Sutton hammered Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the break

Leeds fans would have felt that they were about to take a crucial lead at Selhurst Park when their main man, Calvert-Lewin, stepped up to take the penalty.

However, the 28-year-old striker didn’t even test the goalkeeper as he shot wide, and the supporters were left pondering what could have been had he converted the spot-kick.

Sutton didn’t mince his words and indicated that, as the in-form striker and Leeds’ main man, he fully expected Calvert-Lewin to bury him with the penalty.

He insisted that it was a horrible miss, and the forward will go on to rue this missed opportunity at some point this season.

Sutton said on Sky Sports: “You’re thinking, here we go, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, in brilliant form this season, and he drags his penalty wide.
“That is a horrible, horrible miss, can’t hit the target, and Leeds rued that missed opportunity.”

This is a good point for the Whites

Farke and Calvert-Lewin will rue the missed penalty as it could have easily meant three vital points on the road. However, a draw is still a brilliant result.

Leeds were up against it in the second half with ten men, and the Palace players looked disappointed at the final whistle when the home crowd jeered them off the pitch.

Nottingham Forest failing to win meant Leeds would finish the gameweek maintaining their three-point lead over West Ham, who are 18th in the table.

If Leeds go on to survive, this will be seen as a vital point during a crucial period of the season for Farke and his Leeds players.
