Huge update on Leeds United’s chances of survival – “they look doomed”

Leeds United West Ham

Leeds United took another major step in their fight for Premier League survival on Saturday evening, thumping Crystal Palace 4–1 at Elland Road to boosttheir unbeaten run to four games.

The Whites produced a composed and clinical display when it mattered most, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring twice to give Leeds early control. Second-half goals from captain Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach sealed a crucial and commanding victory in a match with significant implications at the bottom end of the table.

Daniel Farke’s side are now showing the grit and togetherness required in a relegation scrap, with performances improving just as the pressure intensifies. The result further strengthens Leeds’ position as they look to pull clear of danger.

After losing six of seven league matches earlier in the season, Leeds have responded with eight points from their last four games. That surge has dramatically shifted the landscape of their survival battle and breathed fresh belief into their campaign.

Leeds United are striking fear of relegation into rivals such as West Ham

Leeds have picked up eight points from their last four games, with two wins and two draws. They have beaten Chelsea and Crystal Palace and picked up a point each against Liverpool and Brentford.

Their form, coupled with West Ham’s inability to get their season going, has allowed Leeds to pull away from the relegation zone after 17 games.

The Whites have a six-point lead over the Hammers, who sit 18th, and some West Ham fans have already lost hope of a fightback this season.

The London club have been termed relegation favourites by bookies, and fans of other clubs are not giving them a chance to survive.

An Arsenal fan said, “West Ham are doomed with Leeds form.”

A Chelsea supporter added, “Hammers are going down.”

A West Ham fan jibed and said, “Crystal Palace would beat West Ham even if they played straight after tonight’s game. Leeds can win home games, score goals, can defend, can run, look organised.

“There’s no relegation battle. It’s over.”

Leeds are not one of the three worst teams of the Premier League

A few weeks back, Leeds looked doomed for relegation, like West Ham at this stage. However, things did turn around in a matter of weeks.

Leeds cannot get complacent as they are prime examples of what happens when a team find a system that gets the best out of their players this season.

However, the Whites have also never looked like the three worst teams in the Premier League, even when they went on that horrible run of six defeats in seven.

Premier League Table – Bottom Six (at the time of writing)
Pos Club MP W D L GF GA GD Pts
15 Fulham 16 6 2 8 23 26 -3 20
16 Leeds United 17 5 4 8 24 31 -7 19
17 Nottingham Forest 16 5 3 8 17 25 -8 18
18 West Ham 17 3 4 10 19 35 -16 13
19 Burnley 17 3 2 12 19 34 -15 11
20 Wolves 17 0 2 15 9 37 -28 2

Wolves are condemned to relegation, and Burnley are also looking cut adrift from the teams outside the drop zone. However, West Ham’s form has been worrying.

The Hammers have not won since early November and have shipped in six goals in their last two Premier League games.

West Ham look miles better, and more importantly, they look like a team in sync, while the Hammers look like strangers playing together.

Leeds’ home form is also a huge factor working in their favour, but West Ham have looked listless at the London Stadium, where the fans are growing tired of their team.

Things could change, but at this point, it is hard to see how Leeds get sucked into the bottom three again this season.
