Leeds United are now on the verge of securing their place in next season’s Premier League after a convincing 3–1 win over Burnley at Elland Road on Friday night.
Anton Stach got things started in the first half with a superb long-range strike, giving Leeds early control of the game.
After the break, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both found the net to seal the win, while Burnley could only manage a late consolation goal.
Stuart Dallas was in the Sky Sports studio for the game, and his excited reaction after the game came under some fire from Jamie Redknapp.
The Leeds legend gets mocked by Jamie Redknapp
Dallas was naturally pleased after Leeds won, and it was noticed by both the presenter and Jamie Redknapp after the final whistle.
The former Liverpool midfielder mocked the Leeds legend for being too excited after the game, but he did give his flowers to the Whites and manager Daniel Farke.
He is now excited to see what Leeds bring to the table next season after surviving their first year back in the Premier League.
The presenter said, “When that full-time whistle went, you had a big smile on your face, Stuart Dallas.
Redknapp added, “He [Dallas] was giving it Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!
“But full credit to Daniel Farke. He took a lot of stick, and they have not made any rash decisions and have recruited really well.
“There is a togetherness at Leeds, and you look at the crowd, and you look at Elland Road, it’s such a great place to play football.
“I think there were some question marks around Leeds at the start of the season. We didn’t know what they were going to be like or how they were going to play.
“Well, they have ticked all the boxes, and it will be interesting now to see how they push on next season. It’s a big club, so I expect they will invest again.”
Leeds are not mathematically out of it but….
Leeds sit 14th in the table on 43 points ahead of the weekend, but they are still in with a mathematical chance of relegation this season.
However, no side have gone down in a 38-game Premier League season after scoring 43 points, and it is unlikely to happen this term as well.
It would take a ridiculous set of results and Leeds to lose their last three games for them to go down to the Championship.
We can safely now say Leeds will be playing in the Premier League when the 2026/27 kicks off in August.
If Leeds are not out of the relegation fight, you now need to include Newcastle and Crystal Palace, as Leeds are now in front of Newcastle who play Arsenal over the weekend, and Leeds level on points with Palace, but they do have 2 games in hand.
