Leeds United fans will be unhappy that their team failed to win two games this week. But what may even frustrate the fanbase more was what went on during the matches.

Against Manchester City, the officiating was terrible – Peter Bankes missed multiple calls including a potential red card, and penalty for handball. After Pep Guardiola’s side got their goal in the first half, they resorted to time wasting for most of the second period. Even in added time, City players continued to waste time and the referee blew for full time with no regard for the stoppages in the added minutes.

This frustrated Farke who approached the referee to let his feelings be known. Peter Bankes then promptly sent the Leeds United boss off.

Leeds United dealt huge blow with Daniel Farke revelation

This week, the FA released a statement that they had charged Farke for the incident on Saturday, with the German being given till Friday to appeal. According to Graham Smyth, Leeds United and Daniel Farke will not appeal the verdict, and accept a one match ban. Per Smyth, it is because the club believed an appeal would have gotten a longer suspension, and thus they chose the less complex option.

Farke is now set to miss this weekend’s FA Cup clash against his former club Norwich City. Leeds play the Championship side on Sunday, and will be hoping to make it into the quarterfinals of the competition. The team have made it far after beating Derby County and Birmingham City in the previous rounds, and could make something of this year’s cup run.

The club made the right choice

Losing Daniel Farke on the touchline for one game is not a good outcome, but it would have been better than losing him for up to three matches. The club and Farke made the right decision concerning the appeal. At this point of the season, and with just nine games left, an extended ban was not going to do the Whites any favours. Now, the club will have Farke back for important Premier League games, including the two crucial ones against Brentford and Crystal Palace ahead of the international break.
