It has been no secret that Leeds United have been looking to solve their goalscoring problems since the summer transfer window. The Whites were linked with many big names in the summer window.

The likes of Rodrigo Muniz and Nikola Krstovic made the headlines, but no concrete move was finalized. Leeds only signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha at the end of the window. Fans were furious, because they thought the ownership would be ambitious enough to bring in a big-name striker.

Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha have turned out to be decent additions to the team; the duo are among the top scorers in the squad this season. Each have their unique qualities, but have made it work in this Leeds team. But the club are still on the lookout for a center forward, which was evident in the January window. Leeds tried to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen, but the move fell through because Wolves had their conditions.

Jonathan David is firmly on Leeds United’s radar

Per TEAMtalk, Jonathan David has been linked with a move to Leeds United over the past few weeks. The Canadian international has not panned out in Serie A, and Juventus want to cut their losses. David joined the Italian giants on a free transfer, and has not shown his quality like he did in Ligue 1 over a year ago. Reports claim that the player’s representatives have offered him to multiple clubs in the Premier League.

Competition Games Played Goals Scored
Serie A 26 5
Champions League 9 2
Coppa Italia 2 0
TOTAL 37 3,045

Spurs are also aware of the interest and are keen to move in on the striker who will definitely have many suitors in the transfer market. Jonathan David has seven goals in all competitions this season, a disappointing return as compared to last season.

49ers need to act fast

Even though the summer is a long way away, and Leeds United’s safety is not guaranteed, it is a good thing that the ownership are looking at strikers. The Whites have needed goals this season, but have been let down by the quality. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have done their best, but there is just not enough in front of goal for this team to be seen as a real threat anywhere. The attack is an area that seriously needs to be addressed regardless of which league the team finds themselves in next season. Calvert-Lewin, Nmecha and Piroe is just not enough quality for where the club sees themselves in the near future.
