Leeds United were forced into selling some of their best players in the summer of 2024. After their attempt at promotion fell short in the playoff finals, there was sort of an exodus at Elland Road.
Many key players left, with some swooped up by top clubs for big money. This includes Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. Daniel Farke had to do without the star trio, but did an impressive job as he still managed to guide Leeds to the top flight. Selling these three was unfortunate, but was crucial for the clubs finances as PSR had been an issue behind the scenes.
Leeds United could be back in for Archie Gray
Leeds United could be set to get one of their former stars back if things remain as they are in the Premier League. With just 11 games to go, the Whites are outside the relegation zone with a huge chance of surviving. However, Archie Gray and Tottenham could go down if things worsen; since appointing Igor Tudor, they are yet to win a game. Things look really bleak for Spurs’ future.
| Team | Games Played | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 13. Newcastle United | 27 | 36 |
| 14. Crystal Palace | 26 | 35 |
| 15. Leeds United | 27 | 31 |
| 16. Tottenham | 27 | 29 |
| 17. Nottingham Forest | 26 | 27 |
| 18. West Ham United | 27 | 25 |
If they do get relegated, they will have to do serious cost cutting among the current squad. Going down to the Championship would significantly reduce the club’s resources as they will not receive Premier League broadcast money.
Gray could be one of the valuable assets Tottenham can profit off in the summer – he already has many suitors and would go for more than the £40 million they initially paid for him. And if Leeds do stay up, they could be back in for the midfielder, who they have had interest in bringing back since he left the club.

Whites would have to survive the Premier League
Leeds United have their own future to think of with 11 games to go in the Premier League. Things are not quite settled yet at the bottom of the table, and a lot can change in the next few weeks. The Whites have to make sure they can stay in the top flight for another season, as their short term future could depend on it. The 49ers have huge plans ahead of the club including the Elland Road expansion.
Plans this summer already involve a war chest in excess of £100 million to help maintain the club’s Premier League status if they do survive. Those funds will do a lot for the club, allowing them augment the squad and improve upon the team. It could also guarantee enough resources to finally bring Archie Gray back to Elland Road.
