Leeds United star left “upset” after devastating injury update

Daniel Farke must prepare for the bulk of the Premier League run-in without two of his key players after both Anton Stach and Joe Rodon were injured during the FA Cup quarter-final against West Ham.

Jaka Bijol is another player who was described as a doubt by Farke in his press conference ahead of the game against Manchester United on Monday night.

Max Wober has also struggled with injuries this season, with the Leeds loanee unlikely to be signed permanently by Werder Bremen following his lack of gametime for the Bundesliga outfit.

However, it is another Leeds loanee who has been left “upset” after being dealt a major injury blow as he attempts to earn a move away from Elland Road.

Mateo Joseph left “very upset” after suffering a torn ACL

Joseph, 22, has made it abundantly clear that he does not see his long-term future at Leeds, after leaving the club to join La Liga outfit Mallorca on loan last summer.

But with news recently emerging that the young striker had sustained a knee injury, Joseph reportedly had hope that it was just a knock, according to a recent report from Ultima Hora.

The Spanish newspaper claims that prior to his injury, Mallorca had been looking into extending Joseph’s stay at the club, but the forward’s injury has seemingly thrown this plan out of the window.

Joseph was “very upset” when he learned the diagnosis of his injury, which turned out to be the worst possible case scenario for the youngster, an ACL injury that will rule him out for the rest of this season, as well as the early months of next season.

For Leeds, this means they will be unable to cash in on Joseph this summer, as the 49ers’ strategy of loaning players out as opposed to finding permanent buyers comes back to bite them yet again.

Mateo Joseph was on a concerning goal drought at Mallorca

Although the reports coming out of Spain suggest Mallorca have been “pleasantly surprised” with Joseph’s impact since his move to La Liga, the young forward’s data is beyond concerning.

  • In 29 La Liga appearances this season, Joseph has scored just two goals
  • The Spaniard averages a goal every 855 minutes in the league for Mallorca
  • Joseph has gone 22 games without scoring in all competitions, with his last goal coming in October (Sofascore)

Hopefully for Leeds, Mallorca will still be interested in Joseph by the time he has worked his way back from injury, which will keep him out for a minimum of six to eight months.

If not, Leeds may have to loan out Joseph again in the hopes that he can further increase his market value and put himself in the shop window for other clubs.
