Karl Darlow produced another solid performance in goal
Leeds United can ill afford any slip-ups in the Premier League survival battle, particularly after this week’s results pulled them closer to the relegation zone.
West Ham’s win against Fulham and Nottingham Forest holding Manchester City to a draw on Wednesday night have tightened things considerably at the bottom of the table.
Leeds also failed to help their own cause, losing at home to Sunderland on Tuesday. That result leaves them only three points above the drop zone with just nine matches remaining in the Premier League season.
Things changed in the title race as well on Wednesday night after Manchester City dropped more points while Arsenal scored a narrow victory away at Brighton.
Gabby Agbonlahor mentions Leeds United in the title race debate
Leeds were bitterly disappointed to lose at home against Manchester City last weekend and felt that they deserved something from the game at Elland Road.
Manchester City could have conceded a penalty and should have had a player sent off. But they managed to escape Elland Road with a 1-0 win and three points in their bag.
Agbonlahor insisted that Manchester City just about managed to beat Leeds away from home, while Arsenal hammered the Whites 4-0 at Elland Road earlier this year.
He stressed the Gunners are just an all-around better team than Manchester City this season and should go on to win the Premier League.
Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT: “Look at Leeds away.
“[They had a] narrow 1-0 victory; Arsenal went there and scored four a few weeks ago.
“Arsenal are a better side all-around.”
Leeds are a title race indicator
Arsenal have a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, having played a game more than Manchester City and are favourites to win the league.
The Gunners showed in their two games against Leeds this season how good they have been. They hammered Leeds at home early in the season before scoring a 4-0 win at Elland Road a few weeks back.
Manchester City also beat Leeds twice this season, but both victories were narrow, and Leeds could have easily got something against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Agbonlahor is right that in the games against Leeds, Arsenal showed they are a better side than Manchester City in the Premier League this season.
