Michael Carrick has done a great job since he took over Manchester United. The Red devils looked to be going nowhere under former boss Ruben Amorim.

The former England man has turned things around, and guided the club towards a European place. The club currently sit in third place and could secure a Champions League spot in the next eight games. But first they have to go through Leeds United who are coming off the back of a huge triumph in the FA Cup.

Both teams have injury problems ahead of Monday night’s game; Daniel Farke will be missing Anton Stach and Joe Rodon – two key first team players. Noah Okafor and Dan James are also said to be doubts for the game. Michael Carrick confirmed in his press conference that Patrick Dorgu and Lisandro Martinez are doubts, while Matthijs de Ligt remains out.

Michael Carrick issues plea to Manchester United fans

Just like in the reverse fixture, the home crowd will determine this game. Manchester United and Leeds United fans have a long-standing rivalry, and it will surely continue on Monday night. United are in decent form, but have stumbled in their last few games, losing one and drawing one of their last three league games.

This is part of the reason Michael Carrick has called on the Manchester United fans to raise the atmosphere when Leeds United visit on Monday night.

“Yeah, hopefully it cranks it up, you know, and the stadium is alive. I ‘m sure it will be. It has been. It’s been unbelievable playing at home and the boys have responded and thrived off it, really. ”

“So, and with the supporters giving, you know, that balance and coming with us and, spurring us on when we’ve needed that. So I expect it to be the same and with an extra little bit of edge because of it being late.”

Leeds’ away fans have a huge part to play

Daniel Farke’s men have a surprisingly decent record on the road in their last few games; they have managed to hold Aston Villa and Chelsea away from home. So the team already know how to set up and deal with bigger sides in away matches. On Monday night, it is a game against rivals, so the Whites will be hoping for a huge backing from the fans. In games like this the atmosphere can give an edge to the teams involved, so the Leeds United fans must deliver.
