The Premier League resumes this weekend, and the situation around Manchester City is ongoing. Leeds United and other Premier League club will be observing proceedings.
The Manchester club were officially found guilty of financial breaches over a 10-year period.
City have appealed the verdict, and there will be another hearing before a final verdict is reached. And after that, the sanctions will be applied, with punishments ranging from fines to transfer bans to point deductions.
Other clubs across English football will be closely monitoring the situation.
If the sanctions stand, some of them can take Man City to court for compensation.

It is unclear whether Leeds United will be one of the clubs in line to go to court for compensation.
The hearing for City’s appeal will take place in the next few months, with a final verdict to be reached by early next year.
Alan Brazil has said on talkSPORT that his sources have revealed that the Manchester club will be hit with a 60-point deduction. But he does mention that the period the sanction will be applied remains unknown.
”Two different sources have told me this. We’re talking about Man City here because people are saying: ”what’s going to happen?”
”I’ll tell you what I’ve heard, I’m hearing 60-point deduction which will please people and still give City a chance of surviving
”I don’t know whether it is this season, I can’t see how it can be this season. Because by the time they get to it it would have been too late I think.
”Is it next season? I don’t know, but they are talking about a 60-point deduction. Two different sources, both creeping back to Manchester.”

How will this implicate Leeds?
If City are hit with a major point deduction, it all but guarantees that they will finish near the bottom of the table.
Looking at their point tallies in recent years, a 60-point hit would see them have around 30 points, which has not been enough for survival in recent years. Leeds are all but guaranteed to finish above City.
And that opens a spot near the top of the table, as the Manchester club have regularly finished in European places.
Whenever the point deduction is applied opens the door for a lot of opportunities for clubs down the table like Leeds United.
