Leeds United fans thought this January was going to be a quiet one just like last year in the Championship. But the last few days have shown that the 49ers have learnt from their lessons.
Facundon Buonanotte was unveiled as a Leeds player, joining on loan till the end of the season. The Argentine was a summer target, but decided on a move to Chelsea around the transfer deadline. Per reports, the midfielder was keen to leave, with his eyes set on a move to Elland Road. The deal came as a shock to most of the fanbase who were not expecting any major additions in the window.
And the club are not done this month, with Leeds potentially looking to add a center forward. Wolves star Jorgen Strand Larsen has been mentioned, but the fee would mean the deal would need some details to be ironed out.
Daniel Farke gives verdict on Facundo Buonanotte
Buonanotte was on the bench for the game against Fulham, but could feature when the Whites take on Everton. Daniel Farke has had the chance to finally speak about adding such a quality young player to the Leeds United team:
”We will give him time. I don’t want to calm excitement of new loan signing but for us it’s that we were able to bring him in in a relaxed mode. Very exciting young player with lots of potential but part of the truth is that he’s not played much recently.” he said in Thursday’s press conference.
”Convinced of his skills and we will give him the stage. We’re there with open arms.
”We can bring him to the door it’s up to him to come through it. Really nice guy and good character. Skilful and on the right path.
”Up to him to present himself in training. Doing well so far.”
Midfielder to bring much needed spark to first team
There have been games this season where the Leeds United attack look bereft of ideas. This is where Facundo Buonanotte could thrive; a creative player who can score and has an eye for goal. He fits in a variety of roles in midfield and attack, and is exactly the profile Farke has been looking for in this team.
The Argetine is very good in central areas and could be a good fit, playing behind or alongside the center forward in this new 3-5-2 system under Daniel Farke. Leeds need quality up front and he can provide that in games. Hopefully the signing turns out to be a masterstroke for the ownership.
