Leeds United are still looking for their first Premier League win of the season, as game week 6 brought defeat number 3 at the hands of West Ham.
But things could have gone so differently, had Mateusz Klich converted a glorious chance midway through the second half to give Leeds a 2 goal lead. However, the Polish international put it wide.
Paul Merson didn’t hold back when describing the chance. “(Raphinha) Gets on the right, he runs at Declan Rice, he just goes jinks, jinks, he just gets it out” Merson began by praising how well Raphinha did in managing to find Klich in the first place. “plays it to Klich, right on the penalty spot, has all the time in the world, controls it, and then passes it wide of the post.'”
Merson may very well have a point, as Klich was seemingly in mountains of space before squandering the chance. “It’s a shocking miss, to be fair, absolutely brilliant from Raphinha.”
Leeds fans will be imagining what could have been had Klich put this in the back of the net, as a victory over West Ham would have been the perfect springboard for a decent run of form.
